Current Interests is working with LA based artist Lauren Halsey to create a sculpture park in South Central Los Angeles titled sister dreamer, lauren halsey’s architectural ode to tha surge n splurge of south central los angeles. The project is a monument to Halsey’s local community and the inscription of Black life in the city. The seeds of the work began in 2018 at the Hammer’s Made in LA exhibition. In 2023, the piece was installed at a larger scale at the Met Rooftop. Now the work is being returned to the artist’s home, South Central LA, and will become accessible to the public at large. Current Interests is commissioned as the Project Designer and is working with Taslimi Construction to site the sculpture in the public realm, shifting its context and experience from a gallery show to a landscape plaza.
