Rough House is a residential construction project that grows out of an ongoing study of aggregate concrete. We worked with a highly specialized fiber concrete manufacturer to translate a previously constructed paver system into five-foot wall panels. The highly textured masonry pads consist of exposed rock treated in two ways. When left rough, the surface reads green and mossy, contrasting the subtle silvery blues and pinks revealed when slicing through the pebble mix. On the interior, color and tone are studied through a range of stained wood detailing, to create a nuanced sequence of spaces.
