Matthew
Auis the co-principal of Current Interests with over fifteen years of experience. His professional expertise is in design with an emphasis on fabrication, custom software development, complex building systems, and architectural installations.
Matthew is a member of the design faculty at Southern California Institute for Architecture (SCI-Arc) and has had visiting appointments at Princeton University and Harvard Graduate School of Design. Influenced by the history of conceptual art practice, Matthew’s academic work examines the spaces and tools of production, and the lines of communication that connect the worlds of design and building. His current work focuses on the construction of technical images. Prior to forming Current Interests, Matthew worked as a designer for Zago Architecture, Michael Maltzan Architecture, and Fritz Haeg Studio. He holds a Bachelor in Studio Art and Art History from the University of California, San Diego, and a Master of Architecture from Southern California Institute of Architecture.
Mira
Henry is the co-principal of Current Interests. Mira Henry is a registered architect with over fifteen years of professional experience. Her professional expertise is in design and project management of large-scale building programs, residential construction, and retail and restaurant interiors.
Mira is a member of the design faculty at Southern California Institute for Architecture (SCI-Arc) and has had visiting appointments at Princeton University and Harvard Graduate School of Design. Her formal research and writing focus on architecture, race, and materiality. She is the recipient of the 2019 Architectural League Prize, Henry Adams AIA Award, and Archiprix International Gold Medal. Mira has participated in numerous symposia, lectures, exhibitions, and reviews at institutions nationwide, including Harvard, Yale, and Princeton Universities. Prior to forming Current Interests, Mira worked as a lead designer and project manager for Talbot McLanahan Architecture, Office dA, and Monica Ponce de Leon Studio in New York. Mira holds a Bachelor in Art History from the University of Chicago and a Master of Architecture from UCLA.
